Ideas for Your Family Room – A Home Theatre Room

Room décor
If you want your room to look like a real movie theatre, you’ll need coordinating color schemes such as red and gold or burgundy and gold. If you’re going with a themed room then the colors schemes are determined by the theme you select. For example, the Bat Cave would have brown cave-like walls.   The Star Wars theme would have black walls and a ceiling with stars all around, etc.
If you’re going with a room that resembles a real theatre, you will need theatre style curtains around your screen, red with gold trim or burgundy with gold trim.  If you’re going with any other theme, you can select a black curtain or an electric screen cover. Be sure to purchase a 3D projector screen and a projector so you can enjoy 3D movies as well. Elevate the floor beneath the screen by a step or two to give that real theater feel.  You can hide your surround style system with acoustic panels and these panels can be customized with color and material.
Mini bar
Your mini-bar should include a mini-refrigerator and a microwave. You can store various theatre foods in the refrigerator and use the microwave for popping popcorn and melting butter. In addition, you can store and heat up hot dogs, hamburgers, pizzas, egg rolls or any other type of finger food you want. In addition to sodas for the kids, you can have a selection of your favorite alcohols and wines.  The material used to build your bar will depend on the theme you select for your theatre.
Wall décor
Your wall décor should match the movie theme you select. If you’re going with the Bat Cave, you want framed Batman posters and pictures of various Batman characters. If you’re going with the Star Wars theme, you want framed Star Wars pictures, etc. If you’re going with a regular theatre theme, any movies, and cinema actors throughout the ages will work.
